Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a list of general questions that our College Services team are asked on a regular basis.

Questions relevant to all courses

How much will the course cost? The course cost is listed in the course details section on our 'Courses' page.

How much discount will I get if I am on benefits? The reduced cost is listed in the course details section on our 'Courses' page.

Do you have a creche? Unfortunately we do not provide childcare facilities. However if you choose to attend a class at Barkerend Children's Centre then they may have a place for your child in their nursery. Please contact them directly on 01274 437300.                                       

How many classes are there per week? Details of how many classes you need to attend are listed in the course details section on our 'Courses' page.                                                                                                          

Do I have to go to all the classes? Yes we would like you to attend all of your classes. Some of our courses are quite intense and it is important that you be in class so that you do not miss anything.

What are the eligibility requirements? For all of our courses you need to be over 19 years of age on the 31st July 2011. If you are not a British/EU Citizen then you need to have entered Britain before August 2008 (August 2010 if Married to a British/EU Citizen). Details of exact requirements are available through our College Services department.

Questions relevant to our ESOL courses

How quickly can I get my certificate? Once you have completed your course we will apply for your certificate. These usually take a few weeks to arrive with us at the college.

Questions relating to whether the ESOL course will help you to apply for citizenship Bowling College is able to offer the ESOL qualification because we are a publicly funded college who is subject to inspection by Ofsted. Also all of our ESOL courses are certificated through approved awarding bodies and we use specified citizenship teaching materials.

Questions relevant to our Childcare courses

Do I need to do a placement during my course? Yes our childcare courses (except Level 1) require a placement. We have given further information about this on the course details section on our 'Courses' page.

Questions relevant to our Access to higher education & NOCN progression diploma courses

Can I go to university with this qualification? This course is a progression qualification and yes many of our students have gone on to university. If you have any concerns about progression routes then please feel free to ask any questions using our 'Information Request' page.
