About This Course

WORKING WITH CHILDREN

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This course has been carefully designed to allow individuals to develop new skills relating to childcare. The course is made up of three individual units and covers a wide range of skills. The three units covered will allow you to ‘Develop skills for listening to children'; ‘Understand play and learning' and ‘Understand nutrition, performance and Healthy eating.'   

ARE THERE ANY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

The course does not require students to have formal entry requirements. We do expect students to have a good understanding of, and an ability to read and write English to the required standards.

HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT?

The course is delivered through a series of 12 weekly lessons and workshops. These are designed to allow ‘student participation' and to present the opportunity for students to undertake research and present evidence to meet the required outcomes.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Throughout the course you will be building a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your learning.  This evidence is assessed by your tutor

WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I ACHIEVE?

You will achieve a Level One Progression Award awarded by the Open College Network

Progression awards are designed to allow students to carry on with study to achieve higher levels. Your tutor will discuss your options with you during the course.
