About This Course

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will study subjects relating to all aspects of Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

Develop and promote positive relationships
Support pupils' learning activities
Support the development and effectiveness of work teams
Help to keep children safe
Promote positive behaviour
Reflect on and develop practice

HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT?
You will attend college for 2 ½ hours each week for 38 weeks. College sessions will be classroom based ‘workshops' or tutorials. The workshop sessions will include opportunities for learning through theory and practice.  Tutorial sessions will be with an assessor who will work with you to produce the work-based evidence required to meet the standards.
If you do not have an appropriate literacy qualification you will also be required to attend literacy classes as agreed at your interview.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
To successfully complete the course you must produce a portfolio containing evidence of your ability to carry out all aspects of the standards competently and consistently. This will include records of relevant experiences at your place of work and assessments in your workplace by your assessor.

EDEXCEL NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3

Entry Requirements

This course is for those people working in a supporting capacity in school. This could be as a teaching assistants, classroom assistants, learning support assistants, special needs assistants, bilingual assistants or cover supervisors with special responsibilities including supporting pupil’s learning, meeting additional support needs, provide pastoral support, supporting the wider work of the school and working with colleagues. Your placement hours will be for a minimum of 12 hours per week for the duration of the course. You must have a good level of Literacy and Numeracy up to level 2 You will have to have a CRB check through the Criminal Records Bureau as required by current legislation. Minimum age 18 years.
