About This Course
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
This course is aimed at students who want to improve their English language skills. We offer courses to students with limited, through to a more advanced, knowledge and use of the language. Courses are available to students who wish to improve their speaking and listening skills only (entry level one) or to students who wish to improve all four skill areas; speaking, listening, reading and writing (entry level one, two and three). We cover topics such as citizenship, form filling, going to the doctor, looking for a job, culture, pronunciation, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT?
The course is based in a classroom where IT and interactive resources are generally available. You will learn in a supportive environment with our skilled, approachable and experienced native English teachers. The teachers on these courses will use a variety of resources and activities to suit the individual students' needs. These will include; role play, group discussions, interactive games, and watching, listening and reading genuine English materials such as news stories.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Mid way through your course you will be registered with Edexcel who we use to set the exams and provide certification.
At the end of the course you will take an examination. Depending on the course that you are enrolled on this will consist of a speaking and listening test only, or three assessments that test all four skill areas. The tests will be carried out in the same place where you have your class.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I ACHIEVE?
If you pass your tests you will achieve an ESOL qualification in either speaking and listening (at entry level one), or a full ESOL qualification in speaking and listening, reading and writing (at entry level one, two or three). These certificates can be used to form part of an application for Indefinite Leave to Remain or for Citizenship to the Home Office.
