About This Course

What will I study?

You will study subjects relating to all aspects of Children's Care, Learning and Development

  • Contribute to positive relationships
  • Support children's development
  • Help to keep children safe
  • Prepare and maintain safe environments
  • Use support to develop own practice in Children's Care Learning and Development
  • Support children's play and learning

How is the Course Taught?

You will attend college for 2 ½ hours each week for 38 weeks to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding needed in Children's Care, Learning and Development employment sectors. The college based  ‘workshops' will  include opportunities for learning through theory and practice. You will also attend tutorial sessions with an assessor to identify how to produce the work-based evidence required to meet the standards. If you do not have an appropriate literacy qualification you will also be required to attend literacy classes as agreed at your interview.

How will I be assessed?

To successfully complete the course you must produce a portfolio containing evidence of your ability to carry out all aspects of the standards competently and consistently. This will include records of relevant experiences at your place of work and assessments in your workplace by your assessor.

EDEXCEL NVQ Children's Care Learning and Development Level 2

Are there any additional costs?

You will need to provide your own A4 file and paper. You will also need
course text books.

What next?

Candidates can progress to the NVQ level 3 in Supporting teaching and Learning in Schools or Children's Care Learning and Development levels 2/3

Entry Requirements

Be working (paid or voluntary) in a support role in school for a minimum of 10 hours per week. You could be a teaching assistant, classroom assistant, learning support assistant, special needs assistant, or bilingual assistant Minimum age 18 years Have a good level of literacy equivalent to GCSE Grade D – G Hold or be willing to apply for a CRB check through the Criminal Records Bureau as required by current legislation.
